IN-LAW VILLA
TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY | 2021
The goal of this design was to create a methodical spatial design that serves Universal Design. The design follows ADA recommendations, in terms of wheelchair-bound and visually impaired users. The flooring, walls, and furniture finishes alter throughout the home to increase wayfinding measures for those with visual boundaries. In terms of sustainability, The Cortes Manthey In-Law Villa preserves 93% of the surrounding vegetation while supporting the growth through an extensive roof system that recycles rainwater. These goals were achieved through the conceptualization of a Glass Chess Board.
